A large number of officials are required to conduct a swim meet and all of the positions, with the exception of timers, require training and certification which is provided throughout the year.

The following summaries describe the training requirements and responsibilities of the various positions.  Cindy Hunter is the official chair of the Virginia Gators.  Please contact her at [email protected] and she can direct you to the right place and give you insight into officiating if you are interested or have questions about becoming an official.  Additional information can also be found on the Officials page of the VSI website and in the Officials Recruiting Booklet.
